Highlight advancements in minimally invasive techniques….

With progress of science and Knowledge,  more and more surgeries are coming under various Minimally Invasive surgeries.

1.Laparoscopy , a procedure done with special delicate long instruments from a distance through small holes in abdomen without major large cuts

2.Robotics , a process similar to laparoscopy only that machine is controlled by surgeon from a distant console with additional advantage of 3D view and perception and much more degree of freedom of movement of instruments inside operating cavity

3.TAMIS and TEM , are Minimally Invasive surgeries Done lower anotectum transanally without cutting abdomen open or even laparoscopic and used specialised instruments and machinery.

4.VATS , is video assisted thoracoscopy with helps in surgeries on lungs and chest and oesophagus etc without formal cut open thoracotomy

5.Minimally Invasive surgeries in fields of thyroid , heart , lung , NOTES in GI tract , Gynae and Urology , Head Neck and Throat .

6.FESS , a Minimally Invasive ENT procedure

7.Minimally Invasive surgeries for endo vascular,  Brain , Spinal cord , Varicose veins and Orthopaedics

Advantages of Minimally surgeries are less cuts , less fluid losses , less trauma , better cosmesis,  Earlier mobility and recovery,  less pain Disadvantages are more prices,  longer durations of surgeries,  more expertise,  more difficult so a learning curve issues , complex surgeries where hand feel is needed is absent and difficult to assess,  at times inadequate etc
